The Farm is located on the slopes of Funchal, enjoying stunning views of the city and bay. Integrated in a landing orography, conceals by a delicate articulation, as if searching in its share with nature, its place, the meaning of its existence. The intervention clarifies the previous spatialities that were taking place, always unconnected with various autonomous flights of stairs, through the introduction of a single core of stairs that unify all floors and centre the geometric place of the main entrance. The new volume is integrated as an advanced platform over the landscape following the same logic of the old house. Connected by a delicate and transparent passage on the ground level, such as assuming in its “touch” the aesthetic and historical times that distinguish them in expression and in timelessness of the formal abstraction of the new body towards the patrimonial identity involved. A deeply Madeiran place, where one can rest the eyes on the depth of the ocean, framed by the endless beauty of Funchal.
