As a result of a competition launched by the CMP, to rehabilitate the Bom Sucesso Market, Ferreira de Almeida, Arquitectos, Lda was the author of the winning tender. In a joint work of different experiences and different sensitivities, architects Rosario Rodrigues, Nelson Almeida and Luís Almeida devised a strategy, a philosophy, a language of architecture that gave way to a distinct and innovative project. This project, the rehabilitation of the Bom Sucesso Market, classified building, develops inside without any change of existing façades, roof and template. Defined the construction of two volumes on the inside, one destined for the installation of an hotel and the other for offices. The Melia chain Hotel, has a total of 85 rooms, and the office building, on the 1st floor, houses the Manuel António da Mota Foundation, with an exhibition area and an auditorium with 136 seats. This way the bodies now created do not touch the façades or the existing roof, developing as loose sculptural pieces in this context. The commercial space is organized now with a total of 25 shops and 44 stalls selling of various products, being developed on levels 0 and 1.
