The Modernization Project of the Sebastião da Gama School is based on a strategy to enhance the school and its relationship with the city. The balanced relation between the exterior and interior spaces is the base of all public spaces, especially in the realm of the school, responsible for the first community shareable space memories. The project hierarchizes, regroups and places the program and circulations, as well as the design of the outdoor space. The proposal starts from the setting of a central outdoor space, which regularizes and completes the crown of circulations, setting a floor plan apprehensible as the centre of the school. The structuring presence of the Learning Street that intercepts all school areas reacts to the succession of spaces and completes a crown of students and teachers activities. The intelligibility and efficiency of the system are ensured by the deployment of the new building between the main classrooms body and the Gymnasium body. This aims to be a logical conclusion of a system that is considered unfinished today.
