The Architectural Guides Project is innovative and gather several tools (on-line and off-line), with the intent to publicize and promote Architectural Tourism in Portugal.

In 2010 the “Architectural Guide North and Centre of Portugal” was published.
In 2011 the second volume, “Architectural Guide South and Islands of Portugal” was launched.
In 2012 the “Architectural Guide – Rehabilitated Buildings and Spaces” was published.

The presentation texts of Guides that have been published were written by Architect Álvaro Siza Vieira.
The most awarded and prestigious Portuguese architect affirms that: “The publication of a Guide to Contemporary Architecture in Portugal is of evident usefulness. (...) The demand for Architectural Guides, not only by architects, seems to accompany the habit and generalized joy of travelling.”

The publications are bilingual (Portuguese / English) with a “travel guide” format that promotes the work of a wide scope of architects, including most of the works by the two Portuguese winners of the Pritzker Prize – Álvaro Siza Vieira and Eduardo Souto Moura, the two biggest references of the prestigious Porto School of Architecture.

Parallel to the paper edition of the guides, a free online tool was developed to promote – like the two guides – the most interesting architectural Works built in Portugal between 1974 and 2011: the site www.guiasdearquitectura.com.

In all formats, each work is presented with photographs and information that contextualizes it in time and space. It also gives precise location of all works through GPS coordinates

Promoting this Project seems important to us, as it can be considered essential to the promotion of tourism, Portuguese culture and one of the few fields where there is a strong international acknowledgement in our capacity of knowing how to do well: architecture.
